time ago
were two little babies whose names i don't know
that were stolen away in the bright of a day
and were left in the woods, so i hear folks say
two babes in the woods
and all thru the night, so sad,
so sad
the sun went down and the stars shifted sight
they laid there and lied, they screamed and they cried
and two babies in the woods, lay down and died
two babes in the woods
and when they were dead the robins
so red
brought strawberry leaves and over them spread
and all the day long, they sang forth in song
of two babes in the woods
