The Booths - Lake Of The Moon

Brave hearts do tell, of an ancient tale,
passed down from fathers to sons

Of a Knight so young with a wife and a son,

and a battle that had to be won

By the Lake of the Moon, one warm night in June,

messengers of war came a riding

To his townsmen he rode, and there the king chose

him to fight for his family now hiding.

While the full moon shone on the water,

by the place they made their home,

She prayed please send him back safely,

to his family by the Lake of the Moon

The battles did wage for two bloody days,

till their foe was all but done.

But one ran away from the killing that day,

escaped to the Lake of the Moon

Celebration had begun with the battles all won,

the runaway found the home of the Knight

By the light of the moon,

the Knight’s sword ran him through,

taking the runaway’s life,

While the full moon shone on the water,

in the place they called their home,

Their love was safe and secure now

in the place by The Lake of the Moon.
